Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II

TITLE - BRACKET DESIGN

AIM- Our aim is to create the sheet metal bracket design as per the engineering drawing given to us.

INTRODUCTION

Bracket is the sheet metal component whose surface area to thickness ratio is very high, it's purpose is to provide the common platform for the two or more than two component to join hence this is used extensively for the fabrication purposes and it comes under the temporary joint and here we are going to create the design of bracket in NX- SHEET METAL ENVIRONMENT.

DESIGN APPROACH

1- SKETCH ( YZ AND XZ PLANE)

2- CONTOUR FLANGE

3- SKETCH ON THE TOP SURFACE

4- NORMAL CUT OUT

5- BREAK CORNER

6- UNBEND

7- CREATE THE SKETCH FOR THE HOLE AS PER THE GIVEN DATA.

8- NORMAL CUTOUT FOR CREATING HOLE.

9- REBEND

10- BREAK CORNER

11-UNBEND

12- NORMAL CUTOUT

13- REBEND

14- GUSSET

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE

1- FIRST CREATE THE SKETCH IN Y-Z PLANE RIGHT VIEW.

2- CREATE ANOTHER SKETCH IN X-Z PLANE.

3- USING THE CONTOUR FLANGE COMMAND CREATE THE FLANGE OF THE X-Z PLANE SKETCH WHOSE PARAMETER ARE GIVEN AS FOLLOWS.

4- DO NORMAL CUT OUT ON THE FLANGE WHILE USING THE SKETCH OF Y-Z PLANE.

5- USE BREAK CORNER COMMAND TO AVOID ANY SHARP EDGES BECAUSE OF STRESS CONCENTRATION.

6-NOW WE NEED TO MAKE A HOLE SO BETTER WE HAVE TO UNBEND THE SHEET METAL THEN CREATING THE HOLE.

7-USE NORMAL CUT OUT COMMAND TO CREATE THE THROUGH HOLE.

8- AGAIN REBEND THE SHEET.

9- NOW ADD GUSSET FEATURE FOR STIFFENING THE SHEET METAL PART.
