Challenge

Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II

Metal Bracket- II

Objective-

In this assessment, I have designed a sheet metal Bracket from drawing by using necessary features step by step in order.

Introduction-

This is a little bit complicated than the previous challenges modelling. the steps are the same and common ones except for the ones are gussets. I have added gussets in this model at the bends, they increase the stiffening of the sheet. also advanced flange was used for the first time here around the curvy edges and bends.

Design methodology-

Description-

Contour flange-

Contour flange is a type where we can get tab surface and a flange in 1 operation. It just needs a 2d sketch and it can create sheet metal from that sketch in the respective shape.

Normal cut-out-

This feature is used for material removal. A part of the contour flange is removed by defining a sketch.  Even holes are also made by using normal cut-outs.

Break corners-

This feature is used to remove sharp corners and give a smooth round corner of a particular radius. In this bracket, I have used a radius of 4.5, 4, 5, 10mm at specified corners.

Advanced flange-

Advanced Flange adds flange along the edge using the reference face or bend angle. The flange can be created even on the edge and the reference face can be curved.

Holes-

Simple general holes are added to the sheet at 3 positions defined by dimensions. The hole diameters were 6mm.

Gussets-

Gussets are designed on sheet metal to make the sheet more stiffened at the bends. These were made in the round form and the dimensions are in the image below.
