Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II
Title of the Project: Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II
Objective: To design the given sheet metal part using NX cad, using Advanced Flange and Gusset options.
Introduction: Sheet Metal Fabrication is the process of forming parts from a metal sheet by punching, cutting, stamping, and bending. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes.
3D CAD files are converted into machine code, which controls a machine to precisely cut and form the sheets into the final part.
Design methodology:

Description:
- Sketch: Used to make 2D designs and the basic structure of any 3D model.
- Contour Flange: This option is used to make a new base feature or a flange along a contour which can be of a complex 2D shape by extruding the sketch along a vector direction.
- Break Corners: This feature is used to convert sharp edges to smooth round shape or to chamfer shape.
- Normal Cutout: This is used to made an extruded cut on the sheet metal by projecting the sketch on the part and extrude cutting Normal to the part.
- UnBend: Used to flatten out any bends made by selecting a base face and then the bends attached to it.
- Rebend: It is opposite of Unbend, it brings the selected bends back to their original bend angle.
- Hole: Creates a hole of the specified dimensions on the points given on the face.
- Advanced Flange: Adds a flange along multiple connected edges using a bend angle or a reference face. The edge and reference face may/may not be curved. This option is used usually were the edge is curved or of any complex shape and not a staight line. The length and angle of the flange needs to be input before creating the flange.
- Gusset: It is used to create a stiffening gusset on the part. A square/round section is made along a plane specified perpendicular to the bend plane. This triangular section is known as a gusset and can be used to stiffen or strengthen a bend.
- Flat pattern: Used to flatten the sheet metal and create a flat pattern which can be easily blanked out using machining operations.

Conclusion: The given sheet metal part was successfully made in NX sheet metal using the respective features.
