Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

Title of the Project: Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure.

Objective: To design the Sheet Metal Odd Shaped Enclosure using NX CAD.

Introduction:

Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal.

Below are the factors a designer needs to consider while modeling a sheet metal component.

  • Wall Thickness
  • Bend Radii
  • Orientation of Holes & Slots
  • K Factor
  • Bend Allowance
  • Bend Deduction
  • Bend Reliefs
  • Some Additional Features

Methodology:

Description:

All the tools and features used are as below:

1. EXTRUDE:

This command is used to extrude the sketch in-plane direction to create a solid block in the sheet metal application.

2. SHEET METAL FROM SOLID:

Command for convert the solid block into sheet metal parts.

3. FLANGE:

This command creates a flange or extension on the edge of the body selected.

4. JOG:

Lifts one side of the sheet metal part through a defined line.

5. UNBEND:

It is used to flatten a bend to its reference surface.

6. HOLE:

Used to create holes in the given body according to the size of the body and screw fit type.

7. BEAD:

Lifts a material along a counter of a sketch to make a punch or stamp around it.

8. REBEND:

Restores a bend from its flattened section to the original.

9. FLAT PATTERN:

Creates a flat pattern feature from the formed sheet metal part.
