Challenge

Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

MODELING ODD ENCLOSURE ON NX CAD

Objective :

To draw 3D modeling of odd enclosure by using of NX CAD

Introduction :

Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metal working, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly; extremely thin sheets are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate steel or "structural steel".

Design methodology :

Extrude

Workflow :

Draw 2D sketch on front plane (L -200mm ,H - 100mm ,Angle - 60°)

Select Extrude optition and give Distance (200mm)

Sheet metal from solid

Workflow :

Select sheet metal from solid optition

Select five faces (excluded bottom face) and four edge

Give thickness and bend radius

Flange

Workflow :

Select Flange optition

Select left bottom edge

Give angle and length (L - 20mm , Angle - 90° )

Jog

Workflow :

Draw 2d sketch on required face

Select jog optition

Select 2d sketch and face

Give hieght (20mm) and click ok

Unbend

Workflow :

Select Unbend optition

Select stationary face and bend face

Bead

Workflow :

Draw 2d sketch on required face and dimension

Select bead optition

Give depth and radius (D - 3mm , R - 3mm)

Hole

Workflow :

Draw point in required place and give dimension

Select hole optition

Give diameter and depth limit (D - 10mm )

After make hole Rebend pattern

Flat pattern

Workflow :

Select flat pattern optition

Select upward and orientation direction

Difffernd views of odd enclosure

Drafting sheet

Conclusion :

To sucessfull created 3D model of odd enclosure in NX CAD and also learn uses and workflow of

sheet metal command
