Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly
1. Title: Box_Aseembly
2. Objective: To design the Box_Aseembly with sheet metal from Nx CAD
3. Introduction: The sheet metal working domain is widely used in industries because sheet metal can quickly get and does not require any type of machining process like turning, milling, boring or any other kind of process which can be done with the help of CNC or VMC machine. In the Sheet metal process, the power utilization and material wastage are very less. So it is money and time saving also, by which the cost of sheet metal parts little bit reduces. We can manufacture a part which will have good strength and rigidity like a part modelling.
The Box assembly name is suggesting to make a box by sheet metal with respect to manufacturing process and use that box to put the essential materials together in the box.
4. Design Approach:
--Rectangle Sketch of 200x150
-- Tab of 1mm
-- Flange of 200 mm length from 200 mm side with bend radius 10 mm.
-- Flange of 70mm length from 200 mm side with bend radius 10 mm.
-- close the corners which are open.
-- create flanges and hem which will tie the side of the sheet.
-- mirror the body.
-- make the single unit box from the mirror and feature box.
-- Draw the Sketch at the side wall of the box for making a dimple (emboss).
-- Mirror the Sketch at the opposite side wall of the box for making a dimple (embossed) copy.
-- Create the rectangular dimple at bottom of the box which will be inside of the box.
-- sketch a 15 mm diameter circle by an equal offset from the bending corner for making beads.
-- mirror them and make 4 corner beads.
-- offset 202 mm plane from the origin.
-- make the sketch for the box cover and tab of 1mm.
-- create the flanges and hem both the box and cover for making the smooth edges.
-- create the sketches, tab them and break the corner then make hinges for both the cover and box.
-- normal cut used for making the hinges.
-- Rebend from the corners and ready Box assembly
-- Flat pattern to make drafting
5. Description:
Sketch: 2d sketch drawn for making the sheet metal of 1 mm and other features like dimples, and beads.
Normal Cut: Cut the sheet according to the requirements.
Bend: bend the sheet with respect to their bending lines.
Flange: make the flanges from the end edges of sheet metal according to the requirements.
Hem: create the rounded shape edge which is made on the side edge.
Break the corner: rounded shape the edges.
Unbend: Make the flat sheet metal plate.
Dimple: To make the emboss-like structure.
Beads: To make this is also made to emboss the structure but a circle sketch is required.
Mirror Feature: To make duplicate features with respect to the XY, YZ or ZX plane.
Rebend: Rebend the sheet metal with respect to its bending edges.
Flat Pattern: To make flat sheet metal for drafting details.
