Title of project : Box Assembly design
Objective: To design the Box assembly using NX CAD software.
Introduction : To begin the design proced
ure first the global parameters of Sheet metal are to be set and then box assembly is designed as per the guidelines
Description :
1. Select tab command and draw a rectangle on the Datum plane.
2. Go to flange and select the edges where flange is to be created and give length of 200mm and bend radius of 10mm using local value.
3. Again go to flange and select the flange to create a flange of desired length on 2mm flanged edges.
4. Flange with bend radius 0mm and length 0.02mm on flange edge.
5. Now flange over that flanged edge with bend radius of 0.5mm and length 6.5mm.
6. repeat step 4& 5 on other flange.
7. select Hemflange on the created flange edges with radius 0.5mm and length 5mm required to close the box adjust the length preferences and inset types of previous flanges to avoid overlapping of the material and a proper gap.
8. mirror the body using mirror body feature and unite the 2 solid bodies using unite feature.
9. select dimple feature and draw the sketch to stamp desired shape give dimple the required dimple parameters.
10. mirror the dimple feature using mirror feature command.
11. add another dimple on the bottom face.
12. select closed corner feature and close the bend end of the bottom and side faces.
13. unbend the sheet metal model completely using unbend feature.
14. rebend the sheet metal in the reverse order of the unbending.
15. select bead to stamp a bead at the base and using mirror feature to obtain 4 beads at the base.
16. hem at all the top edges of the box.
17. create a datum plane parallel to datum base plane and setb the distance data to 202mm.
18. Design the lid on the datum plane by starting with tab feature of required shape to close the box.
19. select flange feature to create flange on the 4 edges with radius 0.5mm amd length 3mm.
20. design the hinges on box and lid for opening and closing the box.
21. create a base on the box using tab feature.
22. Break corner at the edge of a tab and create flange at an angle of 40 degree and length of 4 mm.
23. again create a flange on that flange at an angle of 40 degree and length 4 mm
24. create a hem flange with open loop structure having radius of 5 mm and angle 325 degrees.
25. unbend the flanges of hinge and create a normal cutout on that sheet metal body.
26. rebend the flanges in the reverse order of unbend.
27. mirror body the hinge body to obtain hinge on the other side.
28. using the same commands create another hinge on the lid. adjust the angle parameter to obtain coincidence of cylinder on the box hinge.
29. The final assembly is ready now.
Conclusion : The box assembly is obtained as per the requirement.
