Challenge

3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT

AIM

Based on the project saved from Week 3, proceed from the First Floor Level. Model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk is a BIM(Building Information Modeling) software civil engineers, architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP )engineers

Here we are using ceiling option in architecture tab

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:In project browser select first floor level

Step 3:Select architecture tab

Select ceiling

Select sketch ceiling

Step 4:Select line option

Draw lines where needed ceiling

Then click tick mark

RESULT

AIM

To model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:In project browser select first floor level

Step 3:Select architecture tab

Select roof by footprint in roof option

Step 4:Select line option

Draw lines where needed roof

Then click tick mark

Step 5:Select 3D view

Step 6:Select the roof

In property browser change the slope to 10 degree

If it is in imperial (enter unit command change the slope to degrees)

RESULT

AIM

Using the file saved from weeks 2 to 4, create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components. Separate them to

architecture and structural plans

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk is a BIM(Building Information Modeling) software civil engineers, architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP )engineers

Here we are using plan views in view tab

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:In project browser select first floor level

Step 3:Select view tab

Select plan view

Select floor plan(it is the architecture plan)

Step 4:Select view tab

Select plan view

Select structural plan

RESULT

The Architecture plan and Structural plan for ground floor is created

AIM

Using annotate toolbar add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file

  1. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings with relation to grids. Overall dimensions are sufficient for architecture plans
  2. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids. Locate all the framing components of the building with reference to a fixed point using Structural plans

INTRODUCTION

Here we are using plan views in view tab

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:In project browser select first floor level

Step 3:Select view tab

Select plan view

Select floor plan

Step 4:Select grids from architecture tab

Draw grids and name them

Step 5:Mark dimensions

Step 6:Select view tab

Select plan view

Select structural plan

Mark dimensions

RESULT

Grids and Dimensions are provided on Architecture and structural Plan

AIM

To create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views

INTRODUCTION

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:Select the view tab

Select sheet in view tab

Select a sheet

Step 3:Edit the data in the sheet

Step 4:Go to plan

Drag the Structural plan into the sheet

Step 4:Go to plan

Drag the Architectural plan into the sheet

RESULT

Sheets are set correctly and Architecture and Structural plans are imperted to sheets

AIM

Using the elevation tab create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk is a BIM(Building Information Modeling) software civil engineers, architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP )engineers

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:Select view tab

Then select elevation

Step 3:Place it on four side

Rename it as North,South,East,West

Step 4:Select East view in elevation

Step 5:Select West view in elevation

Step 6:Select North view in elevation

Step 7:Select South view in elevation

RESULT

Elevations are created and four side elevation of the model is created

AIM

To produce section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction

INTRODUCTION

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open the week 3 project

Step 2:Select view tab

Then select section

Step 3: Draw longitudinal section

Rename the section in project browser

Select the section view

Step 4: Draw transverse section

Rename the section in project browser

Select the section view

RESULT

Sections area created using Revit

AIM

To classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser

INTRODUCTION

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Select property browser

Elaborate the views

RESULT

AIM

Using the sheet template produced create multiple sheets as follows

  1. A 101- Ground Floor Architecture Plan
  2. A 102- First Floor Architecture Plan
  3. A 103- Roof Plan
  4. S 101- Ground Floor Structural Plan
  5. S 102- First Floor Structural Plan
  6. S 103- Roof Framing Plan
  7. A-201- North-South Elevations
  8. A-202- East-West Elevations

Add additional sheets based on the sections created in your Revit file

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk is a BIM(Building Information Modeling) software civil engineers, architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP )engineers

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Set A101 sheet

Place Ground Floor Architecture Plan

Step 2:Set A102 sheet

Place First Floor Architecture Plan

Step 3:Set A103 sheet

Place Roof Plan

Step 3:Set S101 sheet

Place Ground Floor Structural Plan

Step 3:Set S102 sheet

Step 3:Set S103 sheet

Place Roof Framing Plan

Step 3:Set A201 sheet

Place North-South Elevations

Step 3:Set A202 sheet

Place East-West Elevations

Step 3:Set A203 sheet

Place Sections

RESULT

Architectural and Structural plans,Elevations and sections are created and set in to the sheets

AIM

To create a camera-specific view or a 3D view in each room ( living, dining, bedroom). Based on the views, create a new set of sheets starting A-501 (you can add as many sheets after, 502, 503.. n)to place the 3D view images. Produce the sheets as a part of project drafting
