In this project, you will simulate one of the most important problems in aerospace applications- the convergent-divergent nozzle. You will solve the quasi 1D Euler's equations in Matlab to simulate and study the conditions for an isentropic flow inside a subsonic-supersonic nozzle. This project will provide insights into how a super-sonic aircraft is able to attain such speeds with the help of a simple convergent-divergent nozzle setup.

Centrifugal Pump Simulation

In this project, you will be cleaning up the geometry and setting up the case in Converge Studio by providing appropriate boundary conditions. You will get exposed to very strong features of fixed embedding, volume refinement, boundary layer generation which are really important as it gives user, a very good control on the cell count and cell count can easily be optimized using these features. Finally, you will be running the simulation in parallel to analyze the results and you will be much more interested in capturing the flow physics correctly i.e flow near the tip of the vanes of the impeller, flow separation in the outlet runner etc. You will be making use MS - EXCEL to create meaningful plots like Mass flow rate Vs Total Pressure ratio and mass flow rate Vs Efficiency. Also, you will be doing few pen and paper calculations to calculate the Pump efficiency, Hydraulic power and Shaft power.
