Challenge

Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge

Answer:

P Clamp

A clamp is a fastening device used to hold or secure objects tightly together to prevent movement or separation through the application of inward pressure.

Part Design

  • First need to create 2 points on both sides of the clamp
  • create a planes on the 2 surfaces of the points and need one more plane on the centre of the Clamp where the harness is going to run

Electrical Part Design

  • Here we need to Define the part as an Electrical part so we need to select it as a suppot part and we need to select the planes of 3 different places.
  • One more time we need to select the support and check the alternative point of the first point and select the planes

Now the componenet is Electrical defined

The final output is pasted below.

2. Backshell

A Backshell is the rear portion of a connector, which is normally a separate section from the connector head, used to secure the cable via a clamp to the end of the connector. Also called a Hood.

Part Design

  • There are two different places one the backshell connector point and bundle connection point, so we need to create two points on both ends of the part
  • Create the Axis on the backshell connection point which will be used for the connection system

Electrical Part Design

  • Here we need to define the part as the Backshell and select the part
  • The backshell connection point and the bundle connection points are selected by selecting Y axis as the coincidence and X axis as the orientation

Now the componenet is Electrical defined

The final output is pasted below.

Corrugated Tubes

Corrugated Tube is bellows shape and flexible, using for protect the wire harness.

  • Creation of new part file
  • In the electrical part section select the Protection part and select the product name
  • A menu will pop up where we can design the various dimensions of the Slit cot tube
  • save the part in the Slit Cot catalogue

The various slit cot tubes are added in the catalogue and saved

The output is pasted below.
