Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 7 Challenge

Creating Flattened harness assembly

Step 1: Open the wiring harness context assembly to be flattened. Make sure that all the bundles are fully connected.

Step 2: Make a new product file in the electrical harness flattening assembly. Set the harness flattening parameteers as desired. These can be changed later

Step 3: Extract the wiring harness assemblyopened in step 1 into the flattening product.

Step 4: Flatten the wiring harness by selecting a face to flatten the bundles and selecting the bundles to flatten. For this, we can select a bundle and select the option : select all branches.

Step 5: Orient the bundles as required and save the flattened assembly. To rotate the bundles, change the flattening face in the flattening parameters.

Step 6: Create a drawing and pick the front view of the harness. Rotate and orient as required. Add template to the drawing. 

Step 7: Make sure that the wieframes are visible by clicking on drawing properties> Views> Dres Up.

Save the drawing.
