Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 7 Challenge
Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 7 Challenge
AIM
Flatten the harness assembly completed in “ week 4 challenge”. Place the flattened view on drawing sheet. Ensure bundles with protective coverings has different visuals on drawing view.
PROCEDURE
STEP 1: Mechanical Part into Electrical Part
Creation of connector connection point:
- Make a midpoint on the contact face for wire bunddle insertion.
- Create an axis system referencing the newly generated point and specifying the axis direction.
- The Y-Axis should be oriented towards the connector's front face.
- The X-Axis should be oriented towards the clip's locking mechanism.
- The Z-axis should be pointing across the connector from left to right.
Creation of Bundle Conncection Point.
Define the part as a connector and specify terminations.
Define Bundle connection point.
Define connector connection point.
STEP 2: As per the Design, Arranging the Connectors & Creating Multi-Branching to the connectors
Branches inner diameter are 10mm and 5mm
STEP 3: Creating a protective covering with Cot tubes of 10mm and 15mm
HARNESS FLATTENING
- We define the flattening parameters at the harness flattening workbench.
- The harness assembly is brought here to the flattening workbench using the extract command.
- The harness assembly is flattened once we select an appropriate plane.
- The needed angles are used to ROTATE the bundle segments. After that, the harness assembly is drafted.
- To make the bundle and the corrugated Tubes visible in the 3D drawings, flattening settings are defined.
HARNESS DRAWING
CONCLUSION
Thus,
- Flattened the harness assembly completed in “ week 4 challenge”.
- Placed the flattened view on drawing sheet.
- Ensured bundles with protective coverings has different visuals on drawing view.
