Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 7 Challenge
AIM :-
To flatten the harness assembly completed in “ week 4 challenge”. Place the flattened view on drawing sheet. Ensure with bundles with protective coverings has different visuals on drawing view.
OBJECTIVE :-
The objective in this project is to create a flattened view from a harness assembly that is completed in “ week 4 challenge”. After that place it on the drawing sheet. It is desired that the bundles with protective coverings are represented with different visuals on the drawing sheet as well.

FIG 1:- PREVIOUSLY ROUTED WEEK_4 CHALLENGE HARNESS ASSEMBLY .
For making a flattened view we need the following condition.
- Firstly making the flatten view of any harness assembly the file is store in only one place.
- We need to working in a Electrical harness flattening workbench in Catia_V5 as well.
The following procedures are to be done for the completion of the Flattening .
Procedure 1. :- Setup the desired parameters in the HARNESS FLATENING PARAMETERS, in a Electrical harness flatening workbench.

- Here firstly open the Electrical Flatening harness workbench.
- Before making any flattening the assembly we need to setup the Flatening parameters.
- The parameters such as General, flatening orientation, Drawing and some of them need to keep a default.
- It should be noticed that the types of representation for the bundle segment and protective covering are different from each other.
- Also for devices, "3D projection" can be used if the connectors are added to the electrical drawing catalog.
- Renamed the product file as the Flattening Product.

Procedure 2 :-
- Bring the harness assembly into the newly created Flattening Product by using the "Extract" feature.
- First, we need to align the Flattening Product and Harness Bundle in window from tie vertically. Now, we should use the "EXTRACT" feature in the electrical harness flattening workbench to bring the harness assembly into the Flattening product. It should be noted that our geometrical bundle assembly or harness assembly file is now changed to an "EHF" file which stands for "Electrical Harness Flattening".

PROCEDURE 3 :- Flattening the Harness
To flatten the harness we should select the flatten plane and then select all the branches present in the harness assembly as shown below. The above image shows the raw flattened view of the wiring harness along the selected XY-Flattening Plane.

PROCEDURE 4 :- Rotate the bundle segments
All the bundle segments if needed should be rotated in the desired direction as needed by using the "Rotate" feature in the flattening workbench. It should be noted, that as we have "XY-plane" as the flattening plane so we should make sure that we rotate the bundle segment only along the "XY-plane".

- DRAWING OF THE FLATTEN HARNESS ASSY.

- CONCLUSION :-
In this way i have created the Flattening of a previous assembly challenge & with created seperate drawing also, the neccesary snaps are attached to the report & Cat file has browse to the final submission as well.
Thank You.
