Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 5 & 6 Challenge

Wiring Harness Assembly with Connectors and Protective Coverings

Introduction: This report aims to provide a detailed description of the wiring harness assembly challenge submission, which includes harnesses A and B, each with 5 connected connectors electrically. Additionally, the submission includes protective coverings in the form of corrugated tubes to protect the wiring bundle. A 30mm gap is provided at the starting end of the tubes for taping.

Harness A:

Harness A is a wiring harness assembly that consists of several wires and connectors. The harness includes five connectors that are electrically defined. Each connector has a specific function and is connected to the appropriate component in the electrical system. The wiring bundle is protected by a corrugated tube covering that provides physical protection against damage and wear. The starting end of the tube is left open with a 30mm gap for taping to ensure a secure fit and prevent the wiring from slipping out.

Harness B:

Harness B is a wiring harness assembly that also includes several wires and connectors.

Assembly:

The Assembly is created by making an electrical connection between Connector 5 & Connector 6. This Connection results in the Assembly of both harness A & Harness B Electrically.

Corrugated Tubes for Protection Covering:

Corrugated tubes are commonly used in wiring harness assembly to provide physical protection to the wiring bundle. These tubes are made of durable plastic and are designed to protect the wires from damage caused by abrasion, vibration, moisture, and other environmental factors. They come in various sizes and shapes to accommodate different wire diameters and configurations.

The protective coverings in the form of corrugated tubes have been provided to protect the wiring bundle Harness A & Harness B from damage and wear. A 30mm gap is provided at the starting end of the tubes for taping to ensure a secure fit.

The corrugated tubes are typically installed over the wiring bundle and secured in place with tape, ties, or other fastening methods. The starting end of the tube is often left open with a gap for taping to ensure a secure fit and prevent the wiring from slipping out.

Bundle Continuity:-

Conclusion:

The wiring harness assembly challenge submission includes two harnesses, A and B, each with five defined connectors electrically. Additionally, protective coverings in the form of corrugated tubes have been provided to protect the wiring bundle from damage and wear. A 30mm gap is provided in the starting end of the tubes for taping to ensure a secure fit. This challenge submission demonstrates a detailed understanding of the wiring harness assembly process, the importance of properly defined connectors, and the need for protective coverings to ensure the reliability of the electrical system.
