Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 5 & 6 Challenge
Route the following harness A and B According to layout and interconnect them
Make assumption for harness bundle diameters.
Use Following connectors as shown in layout
Harness A
1-174357-2
DT06-08SA-EP07
DT06-08SA-CE01
35SNV001
DT04-08PA-CO17
Harness B
DT06-08SA-CE13
35SNV001
DT06-3S-CP01
DT06-08SA-CE04
DT06-08SA-EP07
Download these connectors 3D data From online websites (te.com)
Open it in CATIA-V5 Start Defining the part
Define the Geometry Parameters
1. Points and axis system are defined in Part design Workbench
2. Points are defined at Connector connecting and Bundle entry Surfaces of connectors
2. Axis system is defined at Connector connecting Point
Then Switch Electrical part design work bench to define them as connector and
electrical properties of of the Connectors like connector connection point and Bundle connection point
DT04-08PA-CO17 (for this Connector define it as a cavity and add cavity connection point)
After this process
Switch to Electric Harness Assembly
Add New Product Rename Them as a Harness A and B
For Harness A
add all the required Connectors
place them as per the layout
Switch to Electrical Harness Assembly Workbench
Define Harness A Product as a Geometrical Bundle
Start routing the Bundle through MultiBranchable Document
Follow same process for Harness B
Create new Product file rename it as a Harness Assembly
Add Harness A and B in this Product
switch to Electrical Assembly Design
Now, Interconnect the Male COnnector(Harness B) with Mating Connector (Harness A)
Check the Bundle Continuity
we have to make sure multi-branchable is selected and then check in
Edit>Search>Advanced>Electrical Workbench>Type-Bundle Segment>Attribute-Fully Connected.
Add Annotation to all Connector
we have to choose a plane on which the annotation will be placed.
Here we will be choosing the front plane as shown below for Harness A.
We should make sure that the geometrical bundle is active before choosing the annotation plane.
Convert Harness Assembly file into IGS format.
Mechanical Assembly Workbench>Tools>Generate CAT Part from product
save this file in IGS format
