Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 2 Challenge

AIM- Define the given cad data as Electrical Connector using Electrical Part design Workbench and also define all the necessary properties to Connectors & Clip.

For define the given connector as electriacal by following some steps.

1) Deutsch DT06 – 08SA CONNECTOR

• Dowload the connector from the given link and open in part design workbench of Catia V5 Software.

• Create the bundle and connector connection point.

• Create a axis system in connector connection point, the orientation of the axis system is mention below

• Define the part as electrical element or connector with the number terminals

Here it has 8 terminals and we defining the part as connector using the electrical part design workbench of Catia V5 and also define the points.

2)Tyco 174357-2 CONNECTOR

The same process was followed for the second connector, here we need to include the connector cavity connection point. It is for fixing the clip on to the connector.

Steps -

• Create Bundle connection point.
• Create Connector connection point.
• Create Connector connection axis system.
• Create cavity connection point.
• Create cavity connection axis system.
• Switch to Electric part design and define part as connector.
• Define Connector connection point, Bundle connection point and cavity connection point.

3) Tyco 85229-1 CLIP

STEP -

• Create cavity connection point.
• Create cavity connection axis system and orientation should be same as in connector.
• Define part as Mounting Equipment.
• Define cavity connection point.

ASSEMBLY

The defined Connector and mounting Clip is assembled using the Electrical Assembly Design workbench. Select the connect electrical devices, first select mounting clip and then connector.
