Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 2 Challenge
Steps to defining the parts which are given in the challenge.
Step 01: Go to the TE Connectivity site, search for the component we require.
Step 02: Download the CAD file.
Step 03: Open the file in CATIA V5.
Step 04: For giving the geometrical specification we need to go to the part design workbench.
Step 05: Now with the help of reference toolbar, select the point tool.
Step 06: After selecting the point tools you need to create a point in between the both sides of the component.
Step 07: Create an access from the tool tab and fix it with respect to its point where we require it.
Step 08: Convert the mechanical part workbench into electrical part.
Step 09: Now we will define all the connectors and the connector clip in the electrical workbench.
Step 10: Tools which are going to be used in defining the components are:-
[1] Define Connector
[2] Defining Connector Connection Point
[3] Define Bundle connection Point
[4] Define mounting equipment
1] Steps to define connector:
Step 1: Click on define connecto.
Step 2: Then click on the object.
Step 3: Set the number of termination with respect to the part.
2] Steps to define Bundle connection Point
Step 1: Click on Bundle connection Point
Step 2: Then click on the object.
Step 3: In the representation part we need to click on the side face where the wire bundle is going to be connected.
Step 4: In the point option we need to click on the point which we are defined there.
Step 5: In the initial condition again we have to select the same side face, then the bundle connection point will be added on the tree.
3] Steps to define connector connection point
Step 1: Click on Connector connection Point.
Step 2: Then click on the object.
Step 3: In the representation part we need to click on the point where the connector is going to be connected.
Step 4: In the contact part we need to click on the side face where the connector is going to be connected.
Step 5: Coincident should be perpendicular to its face.
Step 6: Orientation should be X-axis
4] Steps to define mounting equipment.
Step 1: Click on define mounting equipment tool.
Step 2: Then click on the object.
Step 3: On the pop up box you need to click on ok.
Step 4: After that the part will be converted into electrical part.
