Week 9- Unsteady moving zones Approach

Unsteady moving zones Approach

Aim: To simulate the motion of blades in a generic turbomachinery component using an unsteady approach.

Given data:

  1. Assume blade rotation at 300rpm

Procedures:

  • Import the mesh file stepwise in fluent set up using append option.

  • general set up

  • time step for the simulation :

Rotational velocity=300 rpm

angulr velocity,

`omega=(2piN)/60`

Time period, T=60/N=60/300=0.2 sec

for 1000 time steps,

`Delta T=`0.2/1000=0.0002

Solutions:

Animation file:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ib-zgXC8XD3mwkG9gZYbYnLg1AKqPr6b/view?usp=share_link

Results:

  • mass flow rate at outlet -13.204531 kg/s(negative sign because fluid is leaving from domain)
  • the maximum velocity is around 31.3 m/s near the blades.
  • maximum static pr is 385 pa.

Conclusion:A moving mesh approach based simulation is performed successfully .
