Master Sections

Class A

TOOLING AXIS

Along with Class A surface, Master section along X axis and Y axis are also given as input. Master section are nothing but information about the thickness of the 3d part, flange angle and its thickness, and information about the engineering features.

So, from the master section given under input, we can visualize dog house along with 4-way locator on both left and right side. So, the tooling axis should be choosen according to their profile.

Engineering features - Dog house and 4-Way locator represented under Master Section

2 points were created (shown by red and Yellow arrow) from selecting between option under the point command and the opposite sets of edges were choosen. After that a center point (shown by Green arrow) was created using the same between feature. From that point the tooling axis was made along the Y-axis.

DRAFT ANALYSIS OF CLASS A

Draft analysis is done at 2.9 degree draft angle. Some patches of Class A were red and blue. So they need to rectified by Class A designer.

Class B Surface and Class B surface flanges

Class C surface

Final trims surface

Final solid part created while maintaining 2 mm thickness in all areas along with Dog house, 4-Way locator and Ribs

LIFTER AXIS CREATION

Same concept like between point, as earlier was used to create center point(circled in green) and then Lifter axis is made through it by making the direction normal to the master section plane.

DRAFT ANALYSIS OF FINAL PART

Draft analysis done at 2.9 draft angle at B -Side and on engineering features from Main tooling axis
