Challenge

Week 9 - Project - Master Section Development

1) Objects

*) Creation of B pillar plastic component with attachment features

2) Requirements

*) Class A Surface

*) Master Sections for B side features

*) Thickness of the component :- 2mm as per master section

*) Draft Angle :- As per design rules

3) Procedure

A) Creation of tooling Axis

*) Create tooling axis along which the class A meets the draft requirement

*) If required create side core tooling axis for B side features by taking reference from master sections.

*) The following are the images of Class A given & Class A with flanges along tooling axis.

B) Creation of Class B Surface

*) Create Class B Surface by offsetting the class A by 2mm value & Check for Draft analysis

*) Following image ahoes the class B surface

C) Creation of Class C Surface

*) Create Class C Surface with Draft angle & join with Class A.

*) Finally trim with Class B Surface to get final plastic component

*) Create solid plstic body using closed surface

*) Do draft analysis for the plastic component.

D) Create B Side Features

*) Create B side / attachment features as per master sections.

*) Extract the master section & create solid body outof it.

*) Assemble teh B side features with the main B piller body

*) B side features created are

  • Locator with Dog house
  • Ribs of 55mm apart to each other

*) Following are the images of B piller final component.

\

E) Draft Analysis

*) Do draft analysis for the final B piller plastic component along both the Tooling axis.

*) A complete draft analysis presentation is attached in the attachment.
