Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

Heat stakes:-

In manufacturing products with thermoplastic components. It is often necessary to join a thermoplastic to part of dissimilarity material, whether it is metal, plastic or other material.this technical information sheet provides design guidelines, configurations and technique for successful thermal.

Simplification of machinery

Reduced cost of machinery

Multiple fastening points

Allows higher density of welds compared to hot air cold form or ultrasonic welding.

Locators:-

These are used to fix the translation motion when connecting of two components.

The class A surface is imported as STEP file.

For the creation of B class surface, The A class surface is offset for a 2.5mm towards inside.

Some patches have been created which is solved by using surface based features.

The C class surface is created by the sweep command with reference to the surface for angle of 90 degree which connects the A class and B class surfaces.

The close surface command is used to make the final surface to a solid body.

Tooling axis is created by the moment inertia method by creating a CG point and the axis of geometry.

Heat stakes are created in the input points fronm step file. These are created with an draft angles of 0.5 degree.

Locators are also created with draft angle of 0.5 degree and an entry chamfer.

These are created as per the design rules as mentioned.

Draft analysis is done on the final component with tooling axis created earlier.
