Challenge

Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

Create the Door Trim Lower Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.

Create the Heat Stakes and the locators considering the design rules mentioned in the video for the door applique.

REPORT-

  • First of all, I have created Parallel plane on one of those given point sketch to create 4 way locator.
  • Created sketch on that plane and then extrude it with 0.5 degre of draft angle. Also gave chamfer and edge fillet to its edges.
  • Then with the help of copy paste special command, created another solid body of 4 way locator and finally used Union trim command.
  • Similarly Created heat stake on one of those given point sketch and with the help of traslate command created few copies of it.
  • At the end gave draft to inner and outer surfaces of Heat stakes to 0.5 degree and finally perform draft analysis on final model.

A detailed report should be done explaining the draft analysis and the tooling axis creation.

Draft Analysis is the process in which we can decide whether the class A surface is perfect for moulding or not. The standard draft required is a minimum of 3 degrees in the plastic industry and in creation of ribs and screw bosses we require minimum0.5 degrees. To check that, we have to create a tooling axis with the help of the given class A surface.

An explanation should be given on the way of creating the tooling axis, particularly the Bisecting method.

Here I have used another method, we have to create a centre point on a flat surface using the point command and then with the help of the line command, we will get out the final tooling axis.
