Simulink model of Doorbell :-

Explanation:-

We used the following blocks in the Simulink model:-

  1. Pulse Generator - This is used to create square wave pulses at regular intervals of time
  2. Scope - Shows results in the form of graphical representation
  3. Switch - It is used with the help of a Simulink PS converter to convert a Simulink signal to a physical signal.
  4. Battery - It is used to give power to the close loop.
  5. Electrical references - Electrical ground connection.
  6. Solenoid - Simply we can say that it can convert an electrical signal into mechanical work.
  7. Mechanical translational reference - Reference connection for mechanical translational ports.
  8. Ideal translational motion sensor - It is a motion sensor in a mechanical translational system to measure velocity or displacement.
  9. Solver configuration - Defines solver setting which is used in the Simulink model.
  10. Display - It shows the output values of the model.

In the Simulink model when the switch is pressed, the circuit is complete which causes the current to flow through the circuit.

This signal passes through Solenoid and generates the electromagnet at desired space, which allows the plunger to move because of which the plunger hits the bell and produces sound.

We set the pulse generator period as 4 so that it includes both ON and OFF condition & pulse width to 50 which represents how much period should the switch is in ON condition.

The output of the pulse generator is connected to the switch using a Simulink PS converter.

The battery and switch form an electric circuit hence an electrical reference is provided.

The piston from Solenoid contains magnetically conductive metal, so it can be moved forward or backwards by an electromagnetic field.

This movement of the plunger is sensed by the Ideal translational motion sensor when there is an electric supply.

At the end, display block shows the exact position of the plunger.

Pulse generator Output :-

Position of Plunger Output :-

Conclusion :-

Give 2 seconds time period as input to the pulse generator to open and close the switch. When the switch is closed the solenoid received power from the battery and the plunger moves from port R to port C to hit the bell it produces sound.

The Simulink model of doorbell using solenoid block is obtained.
