Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

Given Class A Surface

Procedure To Create Tooling Axis

  • Since the given surface is nearly planar a point is created on the suface in the middle of it.
  • Hence a tooling axis was created normal to the surface through the point.

Performing Draft Analysis

Draft Analysis of Class A

  • Insert->Analysis->Feature Draft Analysis
  • Draft analysis was carried out by placeing the copass over the tooling axis And locked to a specific direction.
  • If the surface is green then it passes the requirements or else further operation needed to be carried out.

Draft Analysis of Door Applique

Locators Creation

The are created using sketches for 2 ways and 4 ways Placed in a triangular shape on the part body at maximum distance possible.

The inetrusion into the counterpart was kept equal for all 3 locators and the trimed on to the part body.

Heat Stake creation

Heatstakes were created 15 instances of 2mm thickness and 7 mm diameter Placed over a prallel curve to surface boundary on the surface.

Then the heat stakes were trimed on to the part body.

Couynter Part Holes

Holes are created withrespect to the Locators and heat stakes giving a clearance of 0.1mm and 0.5mm respectively.
