Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

DESIGN THE LOCATORS AND HEAT STAKE TO DOOR APPLIQUE

OBJECTIVE

To design the Locators and Heat stake from the door applique form the Class-A surface, Class-B surface, Class-C surface and Draft analysis for class-A surface and final model.

Heat stake
Heat Staking is a pulsed-heat process to join two or more parts out of which one at least is made of plastic. The process is to deform the plastic material using heat and force at a set process time. The bond is made by partially de-forming the plastic part in order to fix the other.

Steps

1. First create a point on the surace of Class-A then create a line to the direction of Y axis is the main tooling axis.

2. Draft analysis of Class-A surface.

3. Creating the B surface, Extract the Class-A surface and offset to 2.5mm and extrapolated.

4. Creating the Class-C surface, Boundary of the class-A surface then smooth curve the boundary.

5. Sweep the Smooth curve and Trim with the Class-B surface.

6. Join the trim surface with the Class-A surface and close surface.

7. Sketch the 4-way locator then pad and draft to angle of 0.5 degree.

8. Give entry chamfer of 3mm and edge fillets of 0.3mm.

9. Copy the 4-way locator and paste then Transulation to the other end of the Door Applique.

10. Unitrim the 4-way locators with the door applique body.

11. Sketch 2-way locator then paded and drafted to angle of 0.5 degree.

12. Give entry chamfer of 3mm and edge fillets of 0.3mm.

13. Unitrim the 2-way locators with the door applique body.

14. For Heat Stake, extract the boundary then use parallel curve and point repeatance give instances.

15. Sketch on the point. then pad, drafted to angle of 0.5 degree and fillet of 0.25mm.

16. Copy the heat stake and paste then transulation to the other points and unitrim with the door applique.

17. Creating the clearance hole on the door attachments sketch and paded then remove with the door attachments.

18. check the clearance dimensions for locators 0.1mm and heat stake 0.5mm.

19. Draft analysis of the for final model.
