Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

Report - Tooling Axis Creation and Draft Analysis of Door Applique:
Tooling Axis Creation of Door Applique:

  • For Tooling Axis Creation, We have the Door Applique Class A surface as an input. By Considering the molding, surfaceB and surfaceC, The class A surface has been untrimmed and then the point has created on the middle of surface. Then the Line has been created normal to that Class A surface along the Point which we created. This Line is consider to be Tooling Axis for the Door Applique.

Draft Analysis:

  • By using the tooling axis, Draft Analysis has made in Class A surface of the Door Applique and Class A Surface of the Door Applique with Support Surface.
  • Material Mode has been ensured in the View Mode Customization to proceed the Draft Analysis.
  • The Draft Analysis can be done by using the Feature Draft Analysis command.
  • To analyse the draft, the compass should be drag and fix it in the tooling axis, click on the lock button which is in the feature draft analysis toolbar then click on the component surface.
    • Then the Draft result will be showcased by the comparison of different colours for Class A surface of the Door Applique.
      • Green Colour - More than 3degree
      • Blue Colour – -0 to 3degree
      • Red Colour – Less than -0
    • Then the Draft result will be showcased by the comparison of different colours for Class A surface of the Door Applique with Support Surface.
      • Green Colour - More than 2.9degree
      • Blue Colour – -0 to 2.9degree
      • Red Colour – Less than -0
  • The Resultant Images of Draft Analysis are attached Below.

Door Applique:

  • Using the Class A surface, ClassB and ClassC surface has been created and Solid Door Applique has been created by the closed surface feature.
  • According to the design rules which is mentioned, the Locators(4Way and 2Way) and the Heat Stakes are created in the Door Applique.
  • Also Clearance for the Locators and the Heat Stakes are made in the Counter Part.
    • Locators - 2nos of 4Way Locators are created on the top end of the Door Applique and a 2way Locator is created on the middle bottom of the Door Applique.
      • 4Way Locators
        • Height of the 4Way Locators is 20mm, Thickness of the 4Way Locators is 1.3mm, Length of the 4way Locators is 20mm, so the clearance in the counterpart has maintained 0.1mm for each side.
        • Draft has been made with 0.5deg in the Locators and Entry Chamfer of 3x45deg has created. Radii on the chamfer edges is 3mm and for other edges are 0.3mm.
      • 2Way Locator
        • Height of the 4Way Locators is 26mm, Thickness of the 4Way Locators is 1.3mm, Length of the 4way Locators is 15mm, so the clearance in the counterpart has maintained 0.1mm for each side.
        • Draft has been made in the Locators and Entry Chamfer of 3x45deg has created. Radii on the chamfer edges is 3mm and for other edges are 0.3mm.
    • Heat Stakes - 5nos of the Heat Stakes are created on the top of the Door Applique and 8nos of the Heat Stakes are created on the bottom of the Door Applique.
      • Heat Stakes are created with the 7mm of Outer Diameter and 5mm of Inner Diameter. Height of the Heat Stakes is 16mm.
      • For clearance in the counterpart has maintained 0.5mm.
      • Draft has been made with 0.5deg and Fillet radius is 0.3mm
  • The Respective Images are Attached Below.
