Week 9 Machining with Planer Challenge
AIM:
Perform the Advance structural Analysis in Explicit Dynamics Simulation on Machining with planar model Using ANSYS WORKBENCH.
OBJECTIVE:
*Perform an explicit dynamics simulation to find out the Equivalent Stress, Total Deformation and also insert a User defined result to calculate the temperature of the body. At Two different Cutting velocities.
CASE-1: Cutting velocity of 20000mm/s
CASE-2: Cutting velocity of 15000mm/s.
GIVEN MODEL:

PROCEDURE:
i.Material:-
Assign the material as structural steel for Cutting tool and Steel 1006 for Workpiece in both the cases by, Selecting the Engineering data >> Edit >> Engineering data sources >> General Materials >> Structural steel.
*Properties of the structural steel is shown in below

*Properties of the steel 1006 is shown in below

*After Assigning the material close the engineering data and open new space claim to make the required designs.
*Once geometry is imported from the space claim then open the model and eidt the geometry in Mechanical moduler.
ii.Mesh:
*Meshing is done using tetrahedrons on cutting tool and hexa elements on workpiece.

*Mesh parameters

*After that Give all analysis setting in steps of time.

* After that Assign the Fixed support and cutting velocities on the cutting tool.
RESULTS:
CASE-1: Cutting velocity of 20000mm/s
EQUIVALENT (VON-MISES) STRESS (Mpa):
MAX: 676.75 and MIN: 0

TOTAL DEFORMATION (mm) :
MAX: 29.259 and MIN: 0

TEMPERATURE ( celcius ):
MAX: 376.95 and MIN: 19.85

CASE-2: Cutting velocity of 15000mm/s
EQUIVALENT (VON-MISES) STRESS (Mpa):
MAX: 677.26 and MIN: 0

TOTAL DEFORMATION (mm) :
MAX: 21.809 and MIN: 0

TEMPERATURE ( celcius ):
MAX: 367.34 and MIN: 19.85

CONCLUSION:
*low Cutting velocity generates more stress on the workpiece.
*High cutting velocity creates more deformation on the workpiece.
*High cutting velocity creates High Temperature on the workpiece.
