Week 9 - FVM Literature Review
Finite Volume
In Finite volume method we consider an arbitrary volume called as control volume around a node. Then we inegrate the conservative from of governing equation in the volume.
Difference between Finite volume and Difference
| S. No. | Finite Difference | Finite Volume |
| 1 | Use both conservative and non-conservative form of governing equations | Use conservative form of governing equation |
| 2. | Differential approach | Integral approach |
| 3. | Taylor series heavy | For flux term taylor series may or maynot be used |
| 4. | Evaluates property a node | Evaluate propery across the control volume |
| 5. | Form complex geometry grid transformation is required | Complex geometry can be modelled easily than finite difference |
