Week 9-Challenge
Objective : To create Connectors and attach various parts of the given model.

1. Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1:- Seam-Quad(angled+capped+L)
2. Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1:- Quad elements
3. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Right_Rail_1:- Spot weld with 3 Layers and 5 mm Diameter
4. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Left_Rail_1:- Hexa (Adhesive)
5. Rear_truss_2 & Right_Rail_2:- Bolt Connector
6. Rear_truss_2 & Left_Rail_2:- Bolt Connector
7. Right_Rail_1 & Right_Rail_2:- Spot-weld with Rigid Elements
8. Left_Rail_1 & Left_Rail_2:- Spot-weld with Spring Elements
9. Rest all the component left Join them with suitable connectors
Procedure :
Step 1 : The model is imported into the hypermesh window.
Step 2 : The imported model is already extracted mid surface.
Step 3 : Since the mid surface is already extracted , the model can be meshed using the automesh option from the 2D panel. Keeping the target element size as 5mm.

Step 4 : Try to re mesh the model to get a neat flow in the mesh.
1 ) Right Rail 2 and Front Truss 1 : Seam Quads (angled + capped + L) Also known as “ volvo seam quads” Which is very common in many industries.
Type : Seam-Quad ( angled + capped + L)
Spacing : 5
Tolerance : 10
Weld Angle : 45
Cap angle : 60
Run off angle : 10
Property : Frame Assembly
Nodes : To be selected where the connectors are to be made.

2 ) Left rail and Front Truss 1 :
Connector : Quad elements
Spacing : 5
Tolerance : 10

Front Truss 2 , Front Truss 1 & Right Rail1 :
Connectors : Spot Weld With 3 Layers And 5mm Diameter “Plot” weld
Spacing : 5
Tolerance : 10

4 ) Front Truss 2 , Front truss 1 & Left Rail 1 :
Connector : Hexa (adhesive) From Seam panel under the 1D page menu.
Hexa (adhesive) This type of connectors are used where the components are joined using industrial adhesives. It creates 3D Hexa elements representing the joints between the components.
Spacing : 5
Tolerance : 10

5 ) Right Truss 2 & Right Rail 2 :
Connectors : Bolt
Num of Layers : 2
Tolerance : 10

6 ) Right Truss 2 & Left Rail 2 :
Connector : Bolt (Cbar)
And the similar measures taken to create as the connector 5.

7 ) Right Rail 1 and Right Rail 2 :
Connectors : Spot Weld with Rigid Elements
Spacing : 5
Tolerance : 10
Diameter : 5
Connection is made on both the ends of the components

8 ) Left Rail 1 & Left Rail 2 :
Connectror : Spring ( Spot weld)
Spacing : 5
Tolerance : 10
Diameter : 5
Connection is made on both the ends of the components and has created elastic elements.

The Other Connectors Were Made as following :
Left Rail 1 & Right Truss 2 : Connector used was spot weld which created rod elements.

Rear Truss 1 & Rear Truss 2 : Connector used was seam weld for the part of the component

For Lowe part of the component the connector used was Seam – Quad (angled) with weld angle 45 degree.

Reinf – Plate , Front Truss 1 & Front Truss 2 : The connector used seam weld (quad element).

Result : All the components were connected successfully.
