Week 9 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

DESIGN AND DRAFT ANALYSIS OF SWITCH BEZEL

AIM:-To create a switch bezel plastic component using the given class A surfac .following the OEM standard and perform the draft analysis.

class A surface

Introduction:-

Class A surface:-the class A surface is used in the autmotive design industry.it describes the final production surface data for the aesthetics parts.

Class B surface:-the class B surface is the second surface that has a certain thickness from the class A surface.this surafce contains engineering aspects of the model.these must be smooth and error fre as well but are not held to the standards that class A surface are.

Class C surface:-the class c surface finish allows more imperfections than class A and class. class C is often specified for interior surfaces that are not easily visible.surfaces that will be covered by another part when assembled.

Creating Tooling Axis:-

the ejection of the mold after manufacturing the interior trim must have the nominal 3-degree draft angle .

hence the tooling directions created by considering the above factor and bisecting method is used.

the base surface of class A was extracted to create a referece point on the surface using the point, creating a line in z direction and insert the axis system to the point.

then using projection intersection along the yz plane is created and two inclined lines are drawn inside the positioned sketch.

then create a bisecting lines with two inclined lines.

Noe the same procedure is done along the xz plane but on xz plaze we only have one surface line so the centre point is used to extrude a line along the z-direction and gave a measurement of 3 degrees from the surface line.

Bisecting these two lines of sketch 1 and sketch 2 we create a bisecting line

Hence tooling axis created.

Now creating the Class B surface

1-bezel rest surface

2- walls

3-BASE

Now offsetting the all the surface.

trimming the surface which we do not need

now using fillet command to fillet the edge

Creating the class C surafce

now join command to join the class A surface and class B surface

Joined class A and class C surface

now trimming the class b surface from final join

after trimming we get the output as given below

Now using the close surface command to close the body

Performing the draft analysis

the draft value is 3 degree.
