Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

1. Tooling Axis:

  • First visualize the direction of tooling axis by lookin at the part, then create a dummy tooling axis (in z direction).
  • To create dummy tooling axis as per visualization, create a reference point at the centre of hole on class A surface and create a line extending in Z direction, dash line highlighted with yellow color.
  • Create a plane parallel to yz plane at reference point.
  • Then Intersect the Class A surface and the plane.
  • Extend the profile which might create issue while tooling or profile which which look or near to parallel to dummy tooling axis.
  • Select line- line type- Bisecting- select the extended lines and the reference point- It will create main tooling axis, make the direction of it.

2. Draft Analysis:

  • Once tooling axis is created, after that select Insert- Analysis- Feature Draft Analysis.
  • Marked Material mode from Customize View Parameters.
  • Select the Class A surface then selected the compass- drag the origin on the surface aligning the tooling axis- lock it their.
  • Check the draft direction and specify the required range of 0-3 degree.
  • Then choose the Analyses under the running point to check the value at specific point on the surface.
