Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2
AIM:
to create screw boss and dog house and perform draft analysis on it
procedure to create DOG HOUSE DESIGN
- extract the base of class a surface and offset it with part thickness as 2.5 mm

- draw a sketch of the rectangle and should be open from one side for dog house

- using sweep with tooling direction and draft it at an angle of 1.5 degrees for the outer surface

- close the upper surface face by offsetting the below-extracted surface and then trim it

- convert the dog house surface in the thickened surface by applying part thickness as 2mm
- now for the inside faces of dog house, we need a core tooling axis created in z-direction

- give the draft to the inside surface of 0.5 degree
- now offset the base surface in between 3mm to 6mm lets take 4 mm
- extrapolate the surface to achieve the desired length
- now switch to the part workbench and split the part
- again do draft to the inside surface
"C" is where the doghouse contacts the backside of the surface

- give radius /fillet to inside as 0.4*T=0.4*2.5= 1mm and for outer edge give fillet as inside radius = part thickness
- minimum fillet of 0.5 mm
- assemble with coin holder main body

DRAFT ANALYSIS
- PLACE THE COMPASS ON THE TOOLING AXIS ON THE Z DIRECTION
- LOCK THE COMPASS AND CLICK ON THE SURFACE OF THE DOG HOUSE

PROCEDURE:
- SCREW BOSS can be on B surface or on the dog house in this we will mount it on the doghouse
- draw a sketch with two concentric circles with dia 5mm inside and 8mm outer dia (5+0.6*2.5)

- extrude it and apply thickness to it
General Guidelines for Bosses:
- Draft - 0.5 degrees on walls of boss
- Thickness - Typically 40%* of the nominal wall at the base.
- Height to Diameter Ratio - 3:1
- Radii - 0.25mm maximum radii

- apply necessary fillets
- create a plane that is parallel to xy plane
- assemble it to coin holder main body
- create an intersection of the body with the plane
