Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

TITTLE: surface modelling of predator yacht in Solidworks.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the course is to get an understanding of surface modelling in Solidworks for making a yacht model

INTRODUCTION: This report consists of an elaborate explanation of designing a yacht model starting from part modelling to final rendering of the assembly

DESIGN METHODOLOGY: Flow chart

DESCRIPTION :

  1. Propeller: It is a rotating fan-like structure that is used to propel the ship by using the power generated and transmitted by the main engine of the ship

Features used :

1.Extruded boss/base: extrude feature extrudes the boundary edges of a face of a solid body or edges of a surface body in a customized direction

2.fillet: it provides a round shape at sharp edges.

3.offset entities : used to provide appropriate tolerance to the sketch

4.pattern : it features the object in a particular direction or path

2. Radar: it is used to detect the object’s position.signals etc relative to the position of the yacht.

Features used

1.Extruded boss/base: extrude feature extrudes the boundary edges of a face of a solid body or edges of a surface body in a customized direction.

2.fillet: it provides a round shape at sharp edges.

3.offset entities: used to provide appropriate tolerance to the sketch

4.extrude cut: used to remove material from solid body

3.Hull: it is the watertight enclosure of the ship, which protects the goods carrying area, machinery and accommodation space for crew member and passenger

Features used:

1.Extruded boss/base : extrude feature extrudes the boundary edges of a face of a solid body or edges of a surface body in a customized direction

2.fillet: it provides a round shape at sharp edges.

3.offset entities : used to provide appropriate tolerance to the sketch

4.chamfer: it provides sloping edges at the desired corners

5.revolve boss/base: used to revolve a sketch with the reference axis or lines in the solid form

6.swept surface: it provide a surface by closed profile along an open and closed path

7.offset surface :used to get pre-surface on another plane

8.filled surface : feature construct a surface patch with any number of sides within a boundary defined by existing model edges ,sketches or curves including composite curves

9.extend surface :used for the extension of the surface.

10.knit surface : it is used to combine two or more faces and surfaces into one

11.projected curve : it combines two 2d continuous curves into a single 3d curve

12.extrude cut: used to remove material from solid body

4. Garage door: it provides safety from external weather.

Features used :

1.Extruded boss/base : extrude feature extrudes the boundary edges of a face of a solid body or edges of a surface body in a customized direction

2.fillet: it provides a round shape at sharp edges.

3.extrude cut: used to remove material from solid body

5. Seat: it is used for resting purpose which is situated over the deck part of yacht

Features used :

1.Extruded boss/base : extrude feature extrudes the boundary edges of a face of a solid body or edges of a surface body in a customized direction

2.fillet: it provides a round shape at sharp edges.

3.extrude cut: used to remove material from solid body

4.chamfer: it provides sloping edges at the desired corners

5.swept surface: it provide a surface by closed profile along an open and closed path

6.extrude cut: used to remove material from solid body

6. superstructure : A superstructure is an extended construction of any building or platform that rises above the rest of platform in a distinct manner

7. Radar mast : it is an advanced electro optic (EO)sensor for shipboard application.

Features used :

1.Extruded boss/base : extrude feature extrudes the boundary edges of a face of a solid body or edges of a surface body in a customized direction

2.fillet: it provides a round shape at sharp edges.

7.extrude cut: used to remove material from solid body

8. assembly: flow chart

All the designed components are taken into assemblies section in solidworks and using appropriate mating feature such as concentric coincident etc the entire assembly of predator yacht is then decals are applied are applied to required surfaces

Assembled model is then taken into solidworks visualize for final, rendering
