Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

Screw Boss & Dog House Creation-

A) Screw Boss-

Here we to follow some design rules for Screw Boss

1) Extract the bottom face of Coin Holder part to create boss.

2) To give the thickness to boss, we have to follow design rule.

Thickness=0.6*Part thickness (0.6*2.5=1.5mm)

Here we consider M06 screw, its inner dia becomes 5.2mm & outer dia becomes 8.2mm.

3) As per design rules, extrude that sketch in the ratio 3:1.

4) Giving an edge fillet as per degin rule.

5) 0.5 deg draft as per design rule.

6) Assemble it into main body.

7) for supporting, ribs are given to boss with as per rules,

Draft=0.5 degree & thickness= min 0.75mm

8) Trim the unwanted inside part.

9) To avoid sharp edges, minimal fillet of value 0.25mm is given.

Creation of Doghouse-

The dog house is used to avoid the sink marks on class A.

The rectangle of required dimensions is drawn on the positioned sketch

Min Width of Doghouse should be 12mm.

1) Sketch on extracted bottom face.

2) Sweep that sketch towards tooling direction with the draft direction value 1.5 deg as per design rules for length 20 mm.

3) thicken the doghouse by 2mm.

4) Draw side core axis for clearing inside part of doghouse.

5) Giving inside draft of 0.5 deg to the doghouse.

6) Doghouse come in contact with main body because of it's thickness. So for that, there are some design rules.

Doghouse wall thickness at intersection of part wall should be 40% or less than main wall

And height should be between 3mm to 6mm.

7) Trim this surface and split it with a dog house in the part workbench and give fillet.
