Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2
Week 09 Challenge 02 : Coin Holder with Screw Boss and Dog House
- After Rib creation, Screw bosses and Dog houses are created by following the standard design rules.
- The Standard Design Rules For Screw Boss,
- Draft angle is 0.5 deg
- Thickness is 0.6*base wall thickness
- Height to Diameter Ratio is 3:1
- Maximum Fillet Radius is 0.25mm
- The Standard Design Rules For Dog House,
- Draft angle is 1.5 deg
- Width to Height ratio is 3:1
- Height B should be 3 to 6mm
- C is 40% of Wall thickness
- The followings are the result when we follow the design rule for the 2.5mm wall thick component(Coin Holder)
- Screw Boss
- Boss thickness W=0.6*t Here t=2.5mm so, W=1.5mm
- Considering the smaller dia hole is 5.2, so the larger dia will be 5.2+2(w) = 8.2mm
- Height(Y)/Diameter(D)<3, So that Y has taken as 12mm. 12/8.2=1.46 hence statisfied this rule.
- Draft angle 0.5deg and Fillet radius 0.25mm are maintained in the Screw boss.
- Dog House
- Width(X)/Height(H)<3, Width=24mm, H has taken as 14mm. 24/14=1.714mm hence statisfied this rule
- C = 40%*t = 40%*2.5 = 1, C=1mm.
- Height B has taken as 4mm
- Draft angle has maintained at 1.5deg.
- For the inner area of the Dog house we have to consider about the side core. So that the Side core tooling axis has been created along the Zdirection.
- Draft analysis has been done for by Main tooling axis and Side core tooling axis. The resultant images are attached below.
