Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

1) Objectives

*) Creating the Screw boss & dog house attachment features for coin holder plastic component considering design rules.

2) Requirements

*) Component thickness :- 2.5mm

*) Design guidelines for Screw boss & Dog house as given

3) Procedure.

A) Creation of Dog House

*) Dog House is the attachement feature which helps in avoiding the sink marks on the plastic component.

*) It is used where the need of screw boss is at a longer distance from the B surface, where we can attach the screw boss on the top or perpendicular to it as required.

*) Dog house inner surfaces are cleared with side core tooling axis

*) Dog house should be created by considering all the design rules.

*) Following images shows the dog house creation & draft analysis for the Same.

B) Creation of Screw Boss

*) Screw bossess are used for attachment & asembly features.

*) To avoid thick section that lead to sink in the component try to keep screw bosses away from the side walls.

*) Connecting ribs are used for support.

*) Screw boss should be created considering all the design rules.

*) Assemble the created Dog house & Screw boss to the Coin holder at required locations.
