ATTACHMENT OF FEATURE CREATION CHALLENGE 1

AIM: To create the boss and dog house of the center console coin holder considering the designe the rules .

General guidelines for bosses

• draft - 0.5 degrees on the walls of the boss
• Thickness - typically 40%of the nominal wall at the base .
• height to diameter ratio -3.1
• Radii - 0.25mm maximum radii .
• c where the dog house contace is back side of the surface
• doghouse wall thickness at the intersetion of the part wall(c) should be 40%are less than the main wall stock(T)
• the height of the (B) should be between 3.0 -6.0mm

The steps involved in the creation of the screw boss .

BOSS DESIGN:

bosses are facillated to the registrationof mating parts ,for attaching fasterness such as screws,are for accepting threaded inserts wall thickness for the bosses should be lessthan 60 percent of the nominal wall to minimise shinkage .

however if te boss is not in a vissible area ,then the walll thickness can be increased to allow for increased stresses impossible by self taping screws the diameter of the hole in the bosses should be equal 0.7* diameter of the screw .

the boss radius should be a minimum of 0.25* thickness .

bosses can be strengthned by incoporatig gusses at the base are by using connecting ribs attaching to near by walls
