Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1
REPORT
ABSTRACT: In this challenge I designed attachment features in the already existed componenet know as main COIN HOLDER. I used the base area to develop multiple ribs at a proper distance so that after creation we can do the analysis test again and again on it. The main function of the ribs is to get attached or hold up with the other surface to create the a proper attachment and connection between the two parts.
INTRODUCTION: Ribs is a common name and there is a same or we can say a similar option is available in the SKETCH BASED FEATURES in Catia PART design workbench. On that available feature we need a projection and a specific direction to create a rib. The projection can be any shape and the direction of the rib command can also be a straight line or a zig-zag line or can be a spline. In this command we cannot dress-up the results that we get or we can say that we cannot change the thickness or we cannot apply fillet or chamfer on that RIB that we received.
But in this RIB creation we can create our sketch and apply any kind of dress-up features according to our conditions and needs. In this designing we need to keep a straight line direction for rib with some extra added rules.
METHODLOGY: I first extracted the target spot that is our base of the coin holder and after that I started sketching on it in apositoned sketch.
After that creation I useed to extrude it and then by defining the body it used THICKNED BODY to made it perfect body. The obtaining results are as:
RESULTS: The development of ribs is done according to the rules. After that I applied sketch dress-up features and set it according the requirements. After that I need to check that all the dimensions of Ribs and between ribs is according to the rules. The types of rules we have is RIBS designing are:
- RIB DRAFT ANGLE
2. RIBS FILLET
3. RIBS HEIGHT
4. SPACING OF RIBS
5. RIB FILLET RADIUS
6. THICKNESS AT THE TOP
SUMMARY: All the dimensions are related to the rules that is mentioned before creation and designing of ribs. All the gaps and fillets are staisfying the required condition. All the values are under the specified range not under over the range. So while developing this reoprt I received these values. I request my challenge reviewer to go through one this reoprt and do the correctness.
