ATTACHMENT FEATURE CREATION

AIM:- To create an out featured rib on the center console coin holder.

PROCEDURE:-

Tooling Axis Creation:

Generally, the tooling axis is created using bisecting line method. But in the components where it has a bin, then the tooling axis is considered as a line normal to the base surface of the bin. The same is done with his component. A line normal to the base surface is created and considered as a tooling axis.

Draft analysis is performed on class A to check the validity of the tooling axis. During draft analysis, it was observed that bin walls are having a 90-degree angle with the base. There is no minimum draft given to walls. Since we are not authorized to make changes in the class A surface, we can inform the class A designer to give the minimum drafts to walls.

Rib Design:

To create a rib first extract the base surface of the coin holder.

Create a positioning sketch draw a line, constraint it, and define it as an output feature.

Extrude the output line using extrude command.

Go to part design, create a part body and assign thickness to the extruded line.

Draft the thickened rib with an angle of 0.5deg. After drafting, measure that the top surface is greater than 0.75mm. Now give the fillets to the edges of 0.25mm on all sides. Assemble the rib body with a coin holder. Similarly, create another rib with a distance of 2:1 ratio the created rib. Using formula Y/X =2(as per preference from the video)

Height of rib Y=12.5

Distance between ribs X=?

X=12.5/2

Y=6.25

Now create an intersection using the YX plane to determine the rib root thickness. Create a tritangent circle by selecting the extracted curves and lines. By using a measuring tool measure the distance, height, and thickness.
