Week 3 - Solving second order ODEs

Solving second order ODEs https://youtu.be/FhirPS29ZgY

Aim: In Engineering, ODE is used to describe the transient behavior of a system. A simple example is a pendulum. Use the given information to animate the motion of the pendulum.

Governing equations:

(d^2 θ)/〖dt〗^2 +b/m dθ/dt+g/L sinθ=0

b- damping coefficient.

g = gravity in m/s2

L = length of the pendulum in m

m = mass of the ball in kg

Objectives of the project:

Procedure:

  • Put the initial conditions.
  • Add time points.
  • Solve ODE.
  • Plot the graph.
  • By using for loop is repetition control structure.
  • Using the required code animates the figure.
  • File saving in the AVI format.

Errors and solutions:

1.

Syntax error-solved by check the brackets properly.

2.

Runtime error-check the code and spelling.

Conclusion:

Solved the 2nd order ode and animated the pendulum.
