Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1

AIM:Create the rib for the Centre console coin holder considering the design rules\

PROCEDURES:

  • Open the coin holder body into surface workbench
  • insert new geomatrical set for tooling axis and create tooling direction
  • for creating tooling direction extract the base plane and make a line on y direction and make it as tooling direction
  • then we want to create rib on outside of coinholder
  • create a postion sketch and a draw a line with proper constrains

  • Make sketch into output feature
  • then extrude it into tooling direction axis
  • from here we want to consider design rules for ribs
  • go to part workbench and thicken the surface
  • thickness must be wall thickness * 0.4 = 2.5*0.4=1
  • hight of rib must be 5 times of thockness =2.5*5=12.5
  • after assign proper thickness we want join rib into coinholder
  • therefore we want use boolian opperation here and assumble into coinholder body
  • then we need to create draft angle for rib
  • go to draft option and select all sides and select tooling axis and profile and set draft angle is 0.5 (optional draft angle)
  • then provide edge fillet of 0.25mm radius
  • after ctreating rib we want to interect the surface and need to extract the boundary for checking rib root thickness
  • Ribs create thick sections at the root (defined by the circle below). This area is thicker than the nominal wall thickness and susceptible to sink.
  • Rib root thickness should not be more than 25% greater than the wall thickness.
  • for that creat a trigent circle in fillet area and check for its diameter and analyse differnts from wall thickness

  • here dia is 2.670 and wall thickness is 2.5 , yes rib root thickness is 25% greaterthen wall thickness
  • after this we want to create second rib
  • create a new sketch from refrance of sketch 1 and constrain it properly
  • follow similer sketch we followed in rib one
  • and check distance between rib
  • distance between rib must statisfy 3:1 ratio of hight and wall thickness
  • so it is is approx 5 mm

  • so here we success fully created rib by following all the design rules for rib

  • Desing rules for ribs in class A surface

  • final model with ribs
