Week- 8 - Solid meshing
Objective:
To 3D tetra mesh the provided rearview mirror assembly according to the set quality requirements, fixing any meshing problems that arise.

Procedure:
- First import the given cad model.

- Connect all single cons to double cons by using the topo tool in topo-faces-topo.

- Check the geometry for faults, sharp edges, single cons, or crack faces with checks-geometry first. Pick out each mistake and fix it.

- With the tool mesh-perimeters-length, set the length of perimeters and macros to 1 mm in order to reach the desired length during meshing.
- The geometry is cleaned up after the topo. The procedure of meshing is next. Set the target length to 1 mm, the minimum length to 0.5 mm, and the maximum length to 2 mm after choosing the mesh settings.

- Choose the quality criterion tab, set the solid module's tet collapse to 0.2mm, pick the shell module, and set the solid module's max length and min length just for the shell mesh.

- After that some areas are fail for minimum length while meshing. so we have to suppress some cut lines and create some surface cut in macros using cut tool topo-faces-cut.
- Now we can go for meshing. select spot mesh tool for mesh the component mesh-mesh generation-spot mesh. some area have feature region such as hemmings, fillets, in that case we should use ortho tria as element type for good mesh flow. we can change this in option list. In some cases, we have flat region, In those we can use
- After meshed the macros, we can reconstruct the mesh for good mesh flow generation using mesh-shell mesh-reconstruct.
- Now check the elements for failing. if there are fail for quality, fix them.
- Now we should define the volumes for the shell elements using volume mesh-volumes-define-manual. Select the component one by one using PID tool.
- After creating property for individual component. now we can mesh the shell elements to solid elements using mesh-volumes-list. Now rt.click the defined component in list tool. after that select the remesh option. Now the mesh tool module appeared, select the method you want such as tetra rapid or tetra FEM.
- If any 3D elements are failed for tet collapse. Use fix quality tool mesh-improve-fix quality. we can use another tool such as mvfree by selecting grids-mv free.
- Now check the volume mesh using not Hide some elements then check the volume.
- The given rearview mirror assembly are meshed for the given quality criteria and assigned volumes for the 2D shell elements.

Learning outcomes:
- Properly learnt how to mesh the component for solid meshing, how to mesh the component with a lot of features using trias & ortho trias, how to change the 2D shell elements into 3D elements, how to clear the failing 3D elements for tet collapse.
Conclusion:
- The given rearview mirror assembly are meshed for the given quality criteria and assigned volumes for the 2D shell elements.
