Challenge

Week 8 - Natural Convection-II

Aim:
To Build the model as per the following information.and perform thermal analysis of the model

DiAGRAM:

Table:

Steps to be performed:

1.Create switch board diagram by using blocks

2.Assume dimensions of switch board based on requirement

3.Current and power values are distributed on respective components on switch board

4.Next plot temperature contours and velocity vectors of the following diagram

Geometry:

1.Open anysis icepak create geometry of switch board by using block options and dimensions can be assumed

2. First click on block next specify start point and end point of respective blocks in switch board and start sketching as per the diagram

3.After creating geometry specify power or joule heating(amper) for respective blocks

4.create enclouser for the entire setup of switch board

5.grills are placed for flow to in and flow to out from the enclouser

6. entire geometry is shown in figure

Picture1:

Wire diagram

Solid diagram without enclouser:

Solid diagram with enclouser:

Meshing:

1.Perform Normal mesh for the setup it shows Total No of Nodes=46171 and Total No of Elements=42366

2.X-plane through center

2.Y-plane through center

3.Z-plane through center

Setup:

1.

Choose variables for cad model

2. Flow is buoyancy driven

3.Set flow as turbulent

4.Zeo equation model

5.Steady state for given flow problem

Basic parameters:

Contours:

1. Residuals:

Temp contours:

2

Vectors:

1.

Conclusion:

1.For given switchboard thermal simulation is done undernatural convection and respective contours are plotted

2. for given power and current max temp of switch board is 82.7 0C andmin temp of switch board is20o C

3.Max velocity of switch board assy is 2.9 m/s
