Week - 8 - Morphing

Objective:-To practice all the morphing techniques which have been shown in the video.

Morphing:- It is a technique to reshape the shape of geometry and FE as well.

There are four types of morphing:-

1. Box morphing:- Box morphing is performed via boxes that are created around a particular part or assembly that the user intends to morph. The movement of the Morphing boxes control points defines the morphing operations on the entities inside the Morph box. This type of Morphing can be applied to both FE and Geometry based models.

2. Direct morphing:- ANSA’s Direct morphing features give the user the ability to efficiently modify a part locally without having to create Morphing boxes. This method is extremely useful in creating local modifications on single parts. Creation of depressions, surface fitting certain FE part features to new target geometry, moving selected features along the contour of a surface, and also the ability to freeze (rigid) elements during the morphing process are some of the direct morphing abilities.

3. Parametric morphing.

4. Geometry morphing.

Model-1

Procedure:-

Import the Geometry.

⇨ After importing the model give the length perimeter then topo and geometrical cleanup.

⇨ We are going to use box morphing for this model.

⇨ Now, go to the morph module Box option⭢New⭢ortho⭢new volume⭢geometry.

⇨ Select the part which we have to morh and give the middle mouse click.

⇨ After the selection of part go to Box morphing and select the move option to generate morph for the respective part.

⇨ Select the nodes of the selected part and give a middle mouse click.

⇨ Then set the direction, where we wanted to morph the part then click ok. The morph has been generated for the respective part.

⇨ If we are not satisfied with the morph then we can further continue with our morph by selecting the continue option.

Model-2(Hand rest):-

⇨ For this model, we perform the same Box morphing and follow the same procedure as model-1.

⇨ We are going to morph Dog house and ribs for this model.

Learning outcomes:-

1. Get to know about morphing, box morphing, and its application.
