Week 8 - Challenge 5 - Door Trim Lower

REPORT:

First we will receive class A Surface as an input from the Class A surface we have to create class B surface and Class C surface

but the classia success which we received was in the common colour but to make it clear for our reference we have given a colour to it.

to create Class B and Class C surface we must and should create the tooling access so that it can be manufactured easily with low cost.

creating tooling access:

the most possible tooling axis is done in z direction But in this component we have so many patches so we will take a deeply look into the component and choose a proper direction of the tooling access you should must select the direction where all the patches can be visible so for this component the Y direction is the direction where all the patches can be visible so we will create a tooling axis in Y direction.

creating tooling access:

to create the tooling access first we have to extract a patch from the Y direction and then we have to create a point on it and then we have to create a tooling line which can be called as tooling axis.

after creating the tooling access we have to check for drafting analysis for the class A surface so that we can thicken the component.

drafting analysis method:

go to insert> analysis> featured draft analysis.

after clicking on drafting analysis tool click the compass tool and drag it to the tooling axis and lock the compass.

after locking the compass click on the second option and display toolbar in draft analysis And then we have to check the drafting angle the minimum drafting angle should be 3 degrees.

after completing the drafting analysis we have to create a class B surface. for creating class B suface we have to extract the each part of the Class A And we have to offset it and we have to trim But here we can go to shortcut method instead of extracting each part we can now offset the whole class A surface.

but after offsetting the class A we'll be having some gaps between the offseted part so first we will work on the gaps first to clear the gaps we will use multi extract command to extarct the gap surface at once and then we will extapolate that surface using boundaries. after extapolating both sides of the gap we will trim the extra components using trim command and then wee will give the fillets to that for giving fillets we cant measure the fillet value simply we have to extacte the filleted region and then we have to untrim them and we have to make a point in centere of it and then we will create three point circle and measure the radius and then we will give the value for fillets.

like the above image we have to find out the fillet value.

after doing the fillets and clearing the gaps we have to create the class C surface by creating the boundary on the edge of the class A and then we have to sweep it but in this component we can sweep everything at once so we will split the sweep in to two first we will create the sweep for the below surafce.

then we will create the sweep to the other surface.

After creating the both sweeps we have to create the inner circular sweep and then we have to join the sweeps with class A and then we have to trim the join of class A and class C with class B and we will get the out put as follows:

after doinfg all these the surface design which we got is hallow inside but we want it to be a solid part so we go to srtart>mechanical design> part design and we will use the close surface comand to close the surface which is hallow inside and make it as a solid part and the solid part output is as follows:

after finishing all these we have to check the drafting analysis for the solid component.

using the drafting command and selecting the compass tool in the direction tool bar and dragging it to the tooling axis and then locking it there and using the compass and checking the draft angles

the drafting angle should be maximum 3 degree and it should not be more than that. After palcing the compass we get a red dot on the curser. By clicking the red dot on the component the colour of the component will change and the top becomes green and the bottom becomes red colour.the output will be as follows:

but here we will get isssue that the C surface is not following the A surafce that is beacuse the sweep which done is 90 degree to the component thats why it the C surface is not following the A surface and it will be drafted in core itself.

Here we will get the output in two diffrent colours one is green at the top and the other is red colour at the bottom. Which means the green colour is 3degree and the red colour is saying that the draft is less than 0 degree

and the red was not the original colour before it was blue colour but for our reference i have changed the colour of it so that we can find it easily that it has a negative value.

after finishing the checking of drafting analysis we have to hide the drafting analysis and then our component is ready for manufacturing .
