Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design
REPORT:
First we will recieve a class A surface as an input from the class A suface we have to create class B surface and class C surface

but the class A surface which we recieved is in single colur but to make it clear for our reference we will give some colours to it and then the output will be as follows

to create class B and class C surface we must and should create the tooling axis so that it can be manufactured easily with low cost.
creating tooling axis:
The most possible tooling axis is done in z direction but in this component we have a bin shapeso we will extract the base of the bin and create tooling axis in it

after creating the tooling axis we have to check for drafting analysis for the class A surface so that we can thicken the component
drafting analysis method:
Go to insert>analysis>feature draft analysis
after clicking on drafting analysis tool click the compass tool and drag it to the tooling axis and lock the compass

after locking the compass click onthe second option and display tool bar in draft analysis and then we have to check the drafting angle the minimum drafting angle should be 3 degree.
After completing he drafting analysis we have to create class B surafce by extracting each part of the class A by ignoring all the fillets and then we have to offset each part separately to given direction and distance and untrim the extracted component and then we have to hide the extracted components and then extapolate the untrimmed component to a certain value by using point continuity method so that the component is fully extapolated by all the sides and then we have to use the trim command to trim the extra components.

use the trim command to trim the extra components.
after trimming the extra components we have to make the fillets to their value and thickness of the componentfor example if the fillet value is 15 and the thickness is 2.5 we have to give the fillet value+the thickness value of the component15+2.5=17.5 for inner surface if the componentshould be made in reverse direction(outside of class A) means we have to do the vice versa of it.
after doing all these we have to create the class C surface by creating a boundary on the class A and we have to use the sweep command. but in this component we have toi create the sweep command in outer flange.

this is why because we have a outer flange which is parallel to tooling axis because of this we cant create a class c surface

due to this we cant create a class c on the base of the bin so we extracted the outer flange and then we created the boundary and used the sweep command on it.
using of sweep command:
select sweep command>profile type>choose the second profile>sub type>with reference surface and choose the guide curve and the reference surface and give the length to a minimum distance but ensure that the length should be more than the thickness of the component so that later we can trim it.
After sweeping the class C surface we have to trim the class C surface with class B surface to cut the extra surface and we have to join the class C with class A and make it a single component after joining both the classes we will get the output as follows:

but after doing all these we have got only the surface design which is hallow inside but we need a solid part so we go to start> mechanical design>part design and use the close body command to close the surface and make it a solid body. The solid body is as follows:

after finishing all these we have to chek the drafting analysis for the solid component.
Using the draft command and selecting the compass tool in the direction tool bar and dragging it to the tooling axis and then locking it there and using the compass and checking the the drafting angles.
the drafting angle should be maximum 3 degree and it should not increase more than that after placing the compass we get a red dot on the curser. By clicking the red dot on the component the colour of the component will changethe top becomes green and the bottom becomes red colour.
but here we will get a issue that the C surface will not follow the A surface that is beacuse the sweep which we done is 90degree to outer flange and the outer flange is at 0 degree. so it will drafted on core itself.
we will get the out put in two colours one is green colour on top and other is red at bottom. which means the green colour is 3 degree and the red colour is saying that the draft is less than 0 degree and the red was not original before it was blue colour but for our reference I have changed it to red colour so that we can find it easily that it has an negative value.
afteer finishing the checking of drafting analysis we have to hide the drafting analysis and then our component is ready for manufacture.
