Week 8 Challenge

Load the UC parameter file. Complete the Ultracapacitor model. Set simulation stop time to 598 sec.

The model output should give, current, SOC and Voltage as output.

The parameters for the UC are given by

Capacitance (C) = 83 F

Efficiency (n) = 90% = 0.9

Lumped Resistance (R) = 0.1

Max voltage (V_Max) = 750

Nominal SoC = 0.9

Power (PUC) = 2000

The .mat file is given by the name "UC_data.mat"

Simulation:

UC_I,V,Q:

For the UC design we need Current, Voltage, OCV, Charge and SoC. Acoordig to the formula they are designed.

Step-1:

Voltage design - UC_voltage

Formule -

Step-2:

Current design - UC_Current

Formule -

Step-3:

Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) calculation, Formule -

Step-4:

Charge Calculation (UC_Charge)

Formule -

Step-5:

After designing the volatge, current, charge, OCV connections are made as shown below

It has 2 inputs i.e., PUC and UC_SoC. The PUC is a constant which is 2000, it is a power demand. The UC_SoC is taken from the SoC designed block which is given from following steps.

Step-6:

UC SoC design

formule -

The UC_Current is taken from the Step - 2 UC_Current, Charge_Q is taken from the step - 4, UC_Efficiency is taken from the work space.

Step-7:

Connections are made as shown below

Working:

The input Power (PUC) which is constant 2000 and SoC is given to the UC_I,V,Q it will calculate the Current, Voltage and Charge accoring thr formule which is designed in the each subsystem. Next the Charge and current from the this block are taken as input for the SoC block where it calculate the SoC of the UC according to the formule. The outputs are taken for the UC-SoC, UC_Current, UC_Voltage.

Results:

We can observe the SoC, Current and Voltage of the UC in the above graph. As the Voltage decreases the current of the UC is increasing and SoC is decreasing.
