Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Coin Holder Design
Ex-01:
Aim:
To create a coin holder part using Class A,B and C surface and converting these surfaces into solid bodies.
Tools Used:
- Line
- Axis system
- Point
- Extract
- Trim
- Edge Fillets
- Extrapolate
- offset
- Close Surface
Draft Analysis:
- Draft analysis is to analysis the part that are ensuring the part angle. In an molding operation the ejection of the part will be difficult and while removing it will cause some defects so it provides lot of amount, time to accumlate with it.So to avoid that these draft angles are provided.
- Draft angle will help the part to remove easily and reduce the defects on ejection from the operation.
- For a surface the minimum draft angle is 3 deg and for an sheetmetal components 7 deg.
Tooling Axis:
- It is an axis that is provided for the tooling direction this is created with the reference of Class A surface and bisecting the two adjcent lines the tooling axis will be provided and these tooling axis will be vary according to the parts. tooling axis is much important for providing draft analysis.
Note:
- Boundries should be in closed condition.
- Offset the surfaces according to the class A surfaces.
- Ensure proper trim is used.
- Publication for Class A,B,C surfaces and tooling axis should be Published.
- Use close surface option to make surface into solid bodies.
Procedure:
- Create an extract of the wall from the class A surface and offset it to 2.5mm and provide edge fillets.

- Create a base surface by extracting Class A surface and offset it to 2.5mm and trim the excess surfaces.

- Create a Top Wall and offset it to 2.5 mm and trim the excess surfaces.

- Create an extract of the top flanges and offset it to 2.5mm,ectrapolate to trim the excess surfaces.

- Trim the extra surfaces and ensure all the boundries are perfectly alligning and provide edge fillets.

- Create a class C surface by extracting the boundry on top flange and sweep @90 deg.

- Join the Class C and B surface together by trimming the excess surface.

- Join the Class A,B and C surface together by join option.

- Create a cutout on the surface by extracting the boundry from class A surface and Sweep that boundry and trim that with class A,B,C surfaces.

- Finally check for any boundry surfaces if not proceed to close the surface this will make the surface into solid.
