Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

OBJECTIVE:

Learning the sheetmetal applications and converting the solid bodies to sheetmetal in siemens NX11.0 and drafting the sheetmetal model.

INTRODUCTION:

Sheetmetal is the common applications we are using it in daily usage e.g)Tables,Automobiles,Industrial tools, etc. The sheetmetal is a thin metal having a thickness of 6mm to max based upon the various industrial patterns it will differ,In this session we were going to convert the solid bodies into sheetmetal and adding some features on it.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY:

TOOLS AND FEATURES USED:

1) Sketch: This is a basic tool for creating the model in 2D.

2) Extrude: This feature converts the 2D sketch into 3D sketch i.e coverting the sketch into solid body (Menu-Insert-Design feature-Extrude)

3) Jog: It is used to create a bend continous structure on the sheet with respective length to it.(Menu-Insert-Bend-jog)

4) Flange: This tool is used to create a bend on the edges with length and radius.(Menu-Insert-Bend-Flange)

5) Bead: This tool is used to create a punch structure on the sheet.(Menu-Insert-punch-Bead)

6) Hole: It is used to create a hole on the respective area of the sheets.(Menu-Insert-Design feature-Hole)

7) Bend/Rebend: It is used to bend and rebend the sheets.(Menu-Insert-Form-Bend/Rebend)

DESIGN PROCEDURES:

1)STEP-01: Creating a sketch.

2)STEP-02: Extrude the sketch.

3)STEP-03: Converting the solidbody into sheetmetal.

4)STEP-04: Create a flange and create a sketch for the Jog.

5)STEP-05: Create a bead on the sketched line.

6) STEP-06: Create a Point sketch to make a hole and rebend the sheet and do the flat pattern
