3D Tetra Meshing, Volume tetra Meshing, Mesh quality check and tet collapse removal
Model 1
1. Import the Housing geometry in Hyperworks
2. Delete all the solid parts and cleanup the geometry
3. Start 2D meshing one component at a time
Note: Mesh Style: Only Trias
Element Target Size: 5
4. Check for Element Failure while setting the crieria
Max Size: 7
Min Size: 2
5. Now Converting these elemens to tetra mesh
6. Now Mask some of the elements to checks for tetras inside the model
7. Check for quality of tetra mesh using F10
Note: Tet collapse present were manually cleaned
Model 2
1. Open the HM file in hyperworks
2. DElete the solid part if any and then clean the geometry using the quick edit menu and de-featuring the surface fillet below the minumum element size, say 2 unit
3. Mesh the geometry with only tria elements with element size of 6 unit and reduce the failing elements to minimum
4. Convert the trias into tetra using 3D mesh menu
4. Mask some of the elements and check whether the mesh is complete
5. Check for tet collapse and resoove the failing elements
Steps to resolve failing tet elements:
- Make save Failed
- Mask elements Menu>Retreive>Mask elements> Reverse mask>Unmask adjacent
- Using the F4 measure menu between two nodes, tweakig the distance to remove tet collapse
- Repeat the same till all elements pass the test
Model 3
1. Open the HM file in huperworks
2. Cleaning the geometry and defeaturing the surface fillet less than minimum element size, say 2 unit
- Defeaturing surface fillet
2. Masking the surface and deletong the teeths of the wheel hub
3. Extending the surface from line to line using the surface edit option
So the final geometry after cleanup is:
3. Like wise cleaning all the geomerty of only one side
4. For the Wheel hub, Knuckle and the chassis part, I used 2D tria elements and then converted it into tetra, but for A-Arm,volume tetra mesh was used
5. Now masking and checking for tetra elements
6. To reflect the mesh to the other half, I created a point between the two geometries
7. Now create a reference base node at the point created in between
8. Now reflecting the elements to the seconf half
9. Checking for tet collapse
10. Final model
